David Lee

David Cecil Lee, age 74 of Cookeville, passed away Thursday July 14, 2022 at his home. David was born July 30, 1947 in Lakeland, FL to the late Willie Jay Lee and Bertha Tackett Lee. He was retired from the US Army. His career spanned more than 30 years and included two tours in Vietnam, eight years in Germany, and two years in Korea. David also specialized in electronics and computers in the military. He served with then Vice President George H. Bush on special operations. He is survived by his wife, Carol Cowan Lee, whom he married June 17, 1989 in Pueblo, CO; two daughters, Nickie Lee Massa and Chrissie Lee Bouldin both of Cookeville; three sons, Shawn, Chris, and Zach Lee all of Cookeville; brother, Johnny (Johnnie Louise) Tackett of Miamisburg, OH; four grandchildren, Megan Massa, Michael (Sarah) Massa, Morgan Jackson, and Matthew Jackson; and five great grandchildren, Ruthie Malone Massa, Haegan Massa, Tenlee Hale, Gannon Hale, and Tayson Hale In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Wilkerson and Fran Lee George; and brother, Charlie Lee. A Celebration of Life will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday July 19 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Cookeville. Military honors will be provided by the Veterans Honor Guard. His family will receive friends Tuesday from 4 p.m. until service time. Memorial contributions may be made to a veterans service organization of your choice.
