David Linnell "Hans" Lane

BAXTER CHAPEL-David Linnell "Hans" Lane, born on January 15, 1948, in Baxter, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was a beloved brother and loyal friend, remembered fondly for his warm spirit and dedication to family.

Hans attended Mt. Juliet High School, where he carved out friendships. He was proud to serve his country, having been drafted into the Vietnam War as a member of the U.S. Army. Hans was a disabled veteran, a testament to his commitment and sacrifice for his nation, a proud accomplishment that he held dear. He received a purple heart for his valor.

He found joy in fishing and hunting, activities that brought him peace and a sense of connection with nature. His love for the outdoors reflected his zest for life.

Hans is survived by two brothers, Kenneth (Brenda) Lane of Bloomington Springs, TN, and Roy Daniel (Linda) Lane of Hazel Green, AL; and one sister, Charlene Rosse of Cookeville, TN. He also leaves behind a host of cherished nieces and nephews who admired him deeply.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Daniel and Mattie May Ford Lane, and siblings, Jimmy Lane, Clark Johnson, Roger Johnson, and Diane Johnson. Their memories will continue to live on through the love they shared during their lives.

Visitation services will be held at Baxter Chapel, located at 532 4th Street, Baxter, TN 38544, on Thursday, January 16, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. A funeral service will follow on January 17, 2025, beginning at 1:00 PM with Bro. Fabron Nicholson officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery with military honors.

David "Hans" Lane will be remembered for his unwavering spirit, love for family, and commitment to his country.
