Graveside services and interment for David Thomas Hunter, age 57 of Cookeville, were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday January 20 at Cookeville City Cemetery. Bro. Mickey Leftwich and David Dukes officiated the services. The family received friends Wednesday from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Social distancing and the use of face masks were appreciated. David passed away Saturday afternoon January 16, 2021 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born May 22, 1963 in Cookeville, TN to the late Ray and Betty Maxwell Hunter. David was retired from the Cookeville Police Dept. with 25 years of service. He later opened Sabre Sharp sharpening services. He was a member of Cookeville Masonic Lodge #266 F&AM, and former member of the Cookietown Car Club. David enjoyed guitars, rock concerts, and classic cars. He also enjoyed painting and was a ham radio operator. David loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Tammy Rush Hunter, whom he married June 22, 1996; daughters, Brittany (Tony) Hunter of Cookeville, Meagan (Andrew) Hathaway of Knoxville, Emily (Brandon) Holcomb and Haley Hunter both of Cookeville; sister, Mary Beth (Danny) Sliger of Cookeville; grandchildren, Connor and Lily Bradford, Hollace Hathaway, and Jasper Andrews; nieces, Danielle Sliger and Allyson Sliger; and mother-in-law, Berniece Rush.
