David William Bromm, affectionately known as Dave, passed away on April 14, 2024, at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center, in Cookeville, TN. Born on July 31, 1948, in Hackensack, New Jersey, Dave lived a life marked by service, both in the military and his community, but mainly to his children and his beloved grandchildren.
Dave grew up on a farm in Liberty, NY with his parents, John W. Bromm and Edith C. Bromm, who preceded him in death. As a young man, he proudly answered the call of duty and served his country with honor as a member of the "Pig Iron" company of the First Cavalry US Army during the Vietnam War.
After returning from war, Dave continued his life of service as a mounted police officer with the Liberty Police Department. His time on the force was marked by integrity and a deep sense of responsibility to the community he served. Upon his retirement from law enforcement, Dave embarked on a second career in Florida, as a beloved cowboy at Disney World, where he entertained visitors at the Magic Kingdom on the Main St. Trolly, as well as the Headless Horseman, Cinderella's coach, among other entertainment roles.
Dave was also a proud member of the Blue Knights International Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club, where he found camaraderie and friendship.
Although his interests were many, nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his grandchildren. Dave wore his love for them proudly in his favorite shirt that read, "My Favorite People Call Me Grandpa." His grandchildren, Shay, Chesney, Cade, Jensen, Matthew, Tyler, and Corey will carry the memory of their grandpa's love and playful spirit with them always.
Surviving Dave are his son, David Bromm and wife Sherrie, and daughter, Christine Dworetsky and husband Andrew. He also leaves behind his brother George and wife Sandy, and brother John and wife Susan. Dave's life was further enriched by his special neighbors Milt and Donna Ashburn, and his loyal German Shepherd, Max, who was his constant source of companionship.
Dave was a self-proclaimed "Grumpy", but was the epitome of Goofy-ness, always greeting others with a joke, but often parting with his signature phrase, "ttfn", meaning "ta ta for now". His legacy is one of love, laughter, and an enduring commitment to his family.
