Funeral services for Darren Jennings Cooper, 53, of Cookeville, will be held at 1pm Saturday, March 23, at Stevens Street Baptist Church with Pastor Sam Rainer officiating. Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 5 "� 8pm at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home and again Saturday from 11am until service time at the church. Mr. Cooper died suddenly Tuesday March 19, 2013 at his home. He was born February 5, 1960 in Corpus Christi, TX to the late Robert Jennings Cooper and Elizabeth Gantt Cooper Ackerman. Mr. Cooper was an active member of Stevens Street Baptist Church where he has been involved in various committees and ministries such as Men"�s Fraternity and "Feeding the Multitude."� He was a self-employed contractor in Houston, TX. When the family moved to Cookeville, he was able to direct his priorities toward raising his sons, Kyle and Brice. He served as a board member for Fellowship of Christian Athletes, volunteered with Boy Scouts of America (Pack 156 and Troop 156) and Lighthouse Christian Camp. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Devin Cooper. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Teresa Bush Cooper (whom he married August, 17, 1991 in Houston, TX); two sons Kyle and Brice Cooper, all of Cookeville; two daughters, Breana Cooper and Bethany Shedd both of Amarillo, TX; two sisters and brother-in-law, Darla Poelma, Debbie and Gary Pearce all of Corpus Christi, TX; three grandchildren, Brayden Beck, Hagen Shedd, and Taislee Shedd; step-father, Fred Ackerman of Yoakum, TX; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Lueddie Bush of Baxter. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made to Fellowship of Christian Athletes, 444 B Neal Street, Cookeville, TN 38501 or Lighthouse Christian Camp, 205 Serenity Place, Smithville, TN 37166.
