Memorial services for Darlean Smith Ferrell, 57, of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, February 7th at 1 p.m. at Double Springs Community Church. Rev. A J Looper will officiate. Mrs. Ferrell's family will receive friends Saturday from 11 a.m. until time for the service at the church. She died Saturday morning, January 31, 2015 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born March 29, 1957 in Jackson County, TN to the late Ben A. and Etta Mae Rector Smith. Darlean attended school in Jackson County. A dedicated worker, she was employed at Red Cap for 6 years and later at Russell Stover Candies. Described by loved ones as an angel, she will be remembered as a loving a giving person. She was happy, loved to laugh, and was in a good mood in spite of poor health circumstances. She was adored by her family and will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Autumn Thomas and by a sister, Etta Medley. Mrs. Ferrell is survived by her loving husband of 9 years, Glenn Howard Ferrell (whom she married June 24, 2005 in Overton Co.); son, Chuck Dent Meadows of Cookeville; daughter, Amanda Mae (David) Thomas of Baxter; stepson, Eric Ferrell of Cookeville; grandchildren, Brittany Meadows, Matthew Thomas, Summer Thomas and Jasmine Thomas; five brothers, Ed (Karen) Smith, Larry (Tina) Smith, both of Baxter, Mark (Teresa) Smith of Sparta, Carlen Smith, and Arlon Dale Smith, both of Baxter; three sisters, Wanda (Steve) Schwartz of Cookeville, Irene (Jr.) Meadows of Bloomington Springs and Evelyn (Roy) Gentry of Baxter; and by many nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 753 Humble Dr., Cookeville TN, 38501.
