Dannie Roy Harris

DYER CHAPEL-Dannie Roy Harris passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, October 29, 2024. Born on February 28, 1951, in Cookeville, Tennessee, he lived a life that exemplified creativity, dedication, and a distinctive personal flair.

Dannie was a talented craftsman. With a keen eye for design, he created beautiful art pieces and unique yard ornaments, and he was an avid collector of clocks, showcasing his creativity and passion for artistry. In his professional career, he retired from Baron USA in Cookeville.

A proud member of the NRA, Dannie's character was defined by his strong convictions and a steadfast commitment to doing things "his way." This tenacity shone through in both his personal and professional life, where he earned the respect of all who knew him.

Dannie recently became a Christian and was baptized.

He is survived by his siblings, Earl Harris (Brenda), David Harris (Debbie), and Vickie Brown (Carl), along with several nieces and nephews who carry forward his legacy of creativity and passion. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Sherman Harris and Modenia Frances Massa Harris; a brother, Edward Harris; a sister, Margaret Holman; and an infant brother, Lonnie Harris.

A funeral service to honor Dannie will be at 1pm Friday November 1 at the Dyer Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Gary Farris and Dow Harris will officiate. Visitation for friends and family will be Thursday evening from 5-8pm and again Friday from 12-1pm. Dannie will be laid to rest with other family members at Boiling Springs Cemetery.

Serving the family as pallbearers will be David Walker, Addison Walker, Blake Harris, Preston Lampson, Cody Maynard and Chad Brown.

Memorials may be made in Dannie’s name to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.

As we celebrate the life of Dannie Harris, we remember a man who touched the lives of those around him with his craft, personality, and undying spirit. He will be missed and revered by all who knew him.
