Dan Lynch

Funeral services for Daniel N. Lynch, age 95 of Cookeville, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday February 2 at the Dyer Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Don Woodward will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery.

His family will receive friends Thursday from 12 p.m. until service time.

Dan passed away Friday January 27, 2023 at NHC of Sparta.

He was born April 27, 1927 in Middlesboro, KY to the late Norman and Ada Hawk Lynch.

Dan was World War II veteran having served in the US Navy. He recently participated in an Honor Flight to Washington DC. The flight honors American veterans with a visit to national memorials, it was a highlight of his life.

Dan was retired from General Motors with over 30 years of service. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved singing hymns, ballads, and county western music.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Lee Bruder of Hancock, NH; step-daughter and son-in-law, Joan and David Barrett of Cookeville; grandson, Jeremy Houle; three great grandchildren, Zachary, Arianna, and Matthew; and four great-great grandchildren; two sisters and brother-in-law, Mary Burr of Birmingham, AL, Inez and Andrew McCoy of Bristol, VA; two brothers and sister-in-law, Greg and Jayane Lynch, Jim Lynch all of Kentucky.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Faye Garrett Lynch; second wife, Jo Mahan Ashburn Lynch; two sisters, Mabel Presnell and Francis Johnson; and brother Dennis Lynch.

Serving as pallbearers are Jim King, Kenny Barrett, Craig Terry, Bob Tatanish, Mikey Johnson, and Bruce Presnell.
