Daisy Beasley

Funeral service for Mrs. Daisy Jewell Beasley, age 99, of Cookeville, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 11 in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Bond officiating. Interment will follow at Eckles Cemetery in Overton County. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 - 8 p.m. and again Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Beasley passed away Sunday evening, May 8, 2016 at Bethesda Health Care Center. She was born September 27, 1916 in Overton County, TN to the late Charlie and Fannie Hood Roberson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Osco Beasley; son, Charles "Sonny" Beasley, two infant daughters, Charlene and Willene Beasley; three grandchildren, Rhonda, Kristie, and infant David Beasley; six sisters, Pearl Dillon, Pansy Eula Roberson, Opal Jane Peek, Lucille Miller, Henrietta Roberson, and Juanita Roberson; and two brothers, James Hollis Roberson and Charles (Junior) Roberson. Mrs. Beasley was a member of Zion Hill Methodist Church, in Rickman. In the 1930's, Osco and Daisy was one of the original homestead family's in the Cumberland Homestead community near Crossville, TN. She was one of the last original surviving members, of that community. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Philip and Sharon Beasley of Rickman; two sisters, Jo Hunter of Cookeville, and Ann Gaw of Hilham; two grandchildren, Jerry Beasley (wife Joy), and Tammy Smith (husband David); and five great-grandchildren, Jared Beasley, Joanna Beasley, Julie Heriot (husband Matt), Cody Smith, and Blakelee Smith. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Mrs. Beasley's family wish to extend their appreciation to the professional staff at Bethesda Health Care Center, and to Daisy's roommate, Vela Lee, for her friendship, patience and Christian love.
