Crystal Chambers Fort

Funeral services for Crystal Chambers Fort, 80, of Cookeville, will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11, at St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church. Burial will be in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 10, from the chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Mrs. Fort died today, Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008, at her residence. She was born Aug. 24, 1928, in Monticello, Ark., to the late William Camp and Patsy Patrick Chambers. Mrs. Fort was a retired head nurse at Tennessee Tech University. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church and the Sisters of Isabella. Her family includes a daughter and son-in-law, Helen Ann and Terry Maxwell of Cookeville; a sister, Pauline Puls of Monticello; five brothers, Rudolph Chambers of Livingston, Texas, Felix Chambers of Sache, Texas, Lawrence Chambers of Royce City, Texas, D.W. Chambers of Monticello and W.C. Chambers of Kirbyville, Texas; three grandchildren, Katherine Jo Maxwell Prater and husband Michael and Karen Diane Maxwell Buck and husband Brian, all of Cookeville, and Kevin Lee Maxwell of Atlanta, Ga.; and great-grandchildren, Alexis Ann Regan, Emily Diane Prater, Terry Cullom Lee Prater and Brianna Medley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert C. Fort; two sisters, Earnestine Breedlove and Adrian T. Chambers; and three brothers, Cecil S., Harry P. and Floyd Chambers. Pallbearers will be representatives from the Knights of Columbus. Honorary pallbearers will be TTU Health Services. Memorial donations may be made to St. Thomas Aquinas Building Fund, the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
