Courtney N. Copeland

Miss Courtney Nicole Copeland, beloved daughter of Michael M. 'Mike' Copeland and Mimi Moorman Copeland, age 39 of Cookeville, passed away Monday August 3, 2020 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. No services are planned. She was born June 23, 1981 in Smithville, TN. She was a 1999 graduate of Cookeville High School and earned a bachelor's degree from Tennessee Tech University. Prior to the beginning of her battle with cancer, Courtney was employed at Morningside Assisted Living and Tennessee Tech. She was a longtime member of Cookeville First United Methodist Church. Courtney enjoyed shopping, reading, and going out to eat. Most of all, she enjoyed regular visits to her favorite place, Dollywood to watch her favorite performers, the Kingdom Heirs, sing her favorite songs. She was thrilled to get to meet the members of the group and visit with them in between performances on many occasions. She also had other special friendships with people she met at the Kingdom Heirs performances. She was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Lucian and Imogene Copeland; maternal grandparents, Marion and John Cooper and Richard H. Moorman; uncle, Bill Tipps and cousin, Brett Tipps. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her aunts Betty (Dan) Dodson of Cookeville and Nancy Tipps of Lebanon; uncle, Jerry (Brenda) Copeland of Livingston; and by cousins, Lisa (Matt) Avrit and Tatum and Dodson Avrit and Tracie (Kevin) Hite and Katelyn Hite. Her family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Cookeville/Putnam County Animal Shelter, 2650 Gainesboro Grade, Cookeville, TN 38501.
