Cliff Raney

Funeral services for Mr. Johnie Clifford "Cliff" Raney, age 72 of Algood will be held Tuesday December 6 at 11 a.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Doyle Crawford officiating. Interment will follow in Algood City Cemetery. Cliff died Friday evening December 2, 2016 in Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashvillle. He was born October 25, 1944 in Akron, OH to the late Johnie William and Lula Belle Colson Raney. Cliff was a life-long member of Algood Church of Christ and a 1962 graduate of Algood High School. While a member of the Algood, Jaycees he was made a Tennessee Colonel and was a retired Rooster. Cliff loved antique cars and had a passion for collecting and refurbishing antique radios. He served as an engineer with the Algood Volunteer Fire Department for over 25 years. Cliff retired from Acme Boot Company after 25 years of service and retired a second time from Gunnels Florist, after serving there for 25 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Chris Raney. Survivors include his wife of 54 years Joyce Goodwin Raney (whom he married November 1, 1962 in Cookeville); son and daughter-in-law, Johnie and Rita Raney of Algood; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Dwain Conner of Livingston; daughter-in-law, Rose Raney of Knoxville; six grandchildren Zac Nicholson, Dana (Josh) Seibers, Kayla (Joe Don) West, Jonathan Conner, William Raney, and Austin Conner; four great grandchildren, Jackson West, Kaydence Seibers, Khloe Frazier, and Ava Seibers; and his brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Sharon Raney of Chesterfield, IN. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Algood Fire Department. Active Pallbearers will be family and friends. The family will receive friends Monday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 am until service time at the funeral home.
