Cleva Thomas

A Celebration of Life Service for Ms. Cleva Anne Thomas, age 61 of Nashville and formerly of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, May 11th at 11:00 a.m. at Progressive Primitive Baptist Church (6421 Baker Rd., Murfreesboro, TN 37129) with Pastor James Shelton officiating. A reception will follow the service at the church. Ms. Cleva Thomas was active in the ministry there, serving as an usher and adjutant to the pastor. A private graveside service will be held Friday, May 10th at Algood (TN) Heritage Cemetery. Ms. Cleva passed away Monday, May 6, 2019 at her residence with her daughter and grandson. She was born April 21, 1958 in Cookeville to the late Joyce Lamberson Stewart. She was a 1976 graduate of Putnam County Senior High (now Cookeville High School) and later employed as a certified nursing assistant in Fairbanks, Alaska for over twenty years. She was a member of Lily of the Valley Church of God in Christ in Fairbanks, Alaska and served in multiple ministries, positively impacting numerous lives. Ms. Cleva is preceded in death by Thomas Wade, and survived by two daughters, Harmonie Dingui and husband Sica of Nashville and Melodie Simmons and husband Ramone of Phoenix, Arizona; grandchildren, Malakai, Rayder, Isaac and Sica; brothers, Tony Lamberson of Athens, TN and Shawn Lamberson and wife Emily of Cookeville; sisters, Gillian League and husband Don of Silver Point; Vivian Brown and husband Greg of Smyrna and Tammy Bumphus and husband Chris of Savannah, TN; uncle, Rodney Lamberson; aunt, Marion Prigmore, both of Cookeville; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
