Claudine Branch

Funeral services for Mrs. Claudine Johnson Branch, age 88, of Cookeville, will be 12 noon Friday, August 3 at Cookeville First Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Head officiating. Interment will follow at Cookeville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 11 a.m. until time of services at the church. Mrs. Branch passed away Monday morning July 30, 2018 at her home. She was born Thursday June 24, 1930 in Cookeville, TN to the late H. Brett Johnson and Ura Scott Johnson. Mrs. Branch was a supportive military wife, who returned to Cookeville upon retirement. She was a member of Cookeville First Baptist Church and a volunteer at Cookeville Regional Medical Center, where she knitted hats for patients. Her hobbies included gardening and quilting. In her younger years she enjoyed tennis, golf, and especially running the Peachtree Road Races on July 4th in Atlanta where she earned the nickname "Speedy Deanie." She is survived by three daughters, Beverly (Joel) Maggart of Atlanta, GA, Brenda Branch of Cookeville, and Becky (Bob) Spilman of Memphis, TN; six grandchildren, Kristin (Chris) King, Jake (Ariann) Maggart, Luke Maggart, Matthew Maggart, Kellie (Patrick) Mitchell, and Kasey Spilman; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Edgar Branch; three sisters, Betty Johnson Rich, Mary Ruth Johnson, and Amelia Johnson Kendrick; and brother, George Harvey Johnson.
