Clarice Gilbert

Funeral services for Clarice Inez Gilbert, age 81 of Cookeville, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday May 11 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Pastor Tim Frank will officiate. Interment will follow at Cookeville City Cemetery. Her family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 - 8 p.m. and again Wednesday from 11 a.m. until service time. Clarice passed away Sunday May 8, 2022 at her home. She was born Sunday May 12, 1940 in Overton County, TN to the late Calvin Smith Vaughn and Berth Ray Vaughn. Clarice was retired from RCA in Indianapolis, IN after 30 years of service. She attended Stevens Street Baptist Church and later Trinity Church Algood. She enjoyed serving as a greeter and volunteer at the Care Center. Clarice never met a stranger. She was a very giving and encouraging person. She is survived by her daughter, Ronda (Larry) Burns of Castalian Springs, TN; her son, Ron (Diane) Gilbert of Cookeville; brother, JD Vaughn of Hilham, TN; grandchildren, Ashley (Alex) Trambley, April (Daniel) Rodas, Ethan Burns, and Katie (Chris) Browner; great grandchildren, Aston Paul Trambley, Emmitt and Emersyn Burns. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Preston Gilbert; sisters, Lucille Dulworth, Christine Myers, Olene Dick, Betty Ray, and Earlise Simpson; and brothers, Cal Edd Vaughn, Gordon Vaughn, and Bill Vaughn.
