Funeral services for Mrs. Claribel Marie Crawford, age 85 of Cookeville, will be held at 11 am Saturday, December 13, in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home with Rev. Erin Angel officiating. Interment will follow at the Cookeville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 5 – 8pm and again Saturday from 10am until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Crawford died Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at NHC of Cookeville. She was born November 29, 1929 in Carroll County, VA to the late George McKinley and Lala Keith Moles. Mrs. Crawford was a member of the Cookeville First Presbyterian Church. She was raised on a farm in Laurel Fork, VA. After high school graduation, she worked in an orphanage. She later received her bachelor's degree in education at Queens College (Queens University) in Charlotte, NC. She was commissioned to serve as a missionary in Korea where she met her future husband, Army Lt. Samuel Crawford Jr. They married upon returning to the states and she worked as an elementary school educator and raised her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Samuel Crawford Jr.; brother, Raymond Moles; three sisters, Clova Moles, Velda Bobbitt, and Rita Hurst; and nephew, Steve Hurst. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Samuel III and Debra Crawford of Cookeville, James and Stephanie Crawford of Nashville; daughter, Mary Crawford and Rusty Dill of Cookeville; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Etholeen Burchette of Newport, TN, Gana and Randy Blackmon of Heath Springs, SC, Macloeda and Don Hines, and Stella Wood, all of Woodbridge, VA; grandchildren, Whit Crawford, Mariah Crawford, Chynna Crawford, Claetin Smith, James Pollitt, and Candace Pollitt; great-grandchildren, Caleb Key, Abby Pollitt, Laila Pollitt, Tynzli Maxwell, and Cameron Hankes; nieces and nephews, Dan Burchette, Joe Burchette, David Burchett, Donald Ayers, Jay Hurst, Paul Hurst, Tracy Blackman, and Lisa Wood.
