Clarence Sewell

BAXTER-Funeral services for Clarence Everett Sewell, 97 of Baxter, will be Monday, November 13 at 1 PM at the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Interment with military honors by the Veterans Honor Guard will follow in Rock Springs Cemetery in Buffalo Valley, TN. The family will receive friends Monday after 11 AM until service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Sewell died Wednesday night, November 8, 2023 at Quality Center for Rehab and Healing in Lebanon, TN.

He was born July 28, 1926 in Baxter, TN to the late James Nixon and Cora Bell Gentry Sewell.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife of 65 years, Rose Marie Maddux Sewell on December 4, 2013; sister, Jean Ferrioria; brothers, Wilburn "Buster" Sewell and Freddie Sewell.

He was an Army veteran of WW2 serving 1944-1946 as a PFC Co. L 186th Infantry.

He was a member of Baxter Church of Christ.

Clarence was a retired carpenter and built many houses in and around Baxter in his younger days. He was also an Indian artifact collector and hosted several artifact shows in Baxter.

Survivors include a son,  Wayne Sewell of Baxter; sister, Jo Billingsley of Cookeville; brother and sister-in-law, Darryl and Shirley Maddux of Buffalo Valley; and several nieces and nephews.
