Clara Jean Mcdonald

Funeral services for Clara Jean Ragland McDonald, age 90 of Cookeville, will be held Tuesday, October 19th at 11:00 a.m. at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Judge John P. Hudson will officiate. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery. Her family will receive guests during visitation on Monday evening, October 18th from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again Tuesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. She was born October 16, 1931 to the late Carmel Ridley and Clara Flatt Ragland, and she passed away on the morning of her ninetieth birthday while among family. Clara worked at Adams USA for over 50 years. Clara was a member of Willow Avenue Church of Christ. She was best known for her selflessness, resolve, and enormous capacity to love. Clara’s personal strength stemmed from her persistent hope, and she shared her hope with those around her through encouraging words. She was a loving and dedicated wife to Troy McDonald until his passing in 2000 and a close companion, friend, and mother to Marcia Borys, as well as a second mother and grandmother to Roland and Mark Borys. Clara is survived by her daughter Marcia, grandchildren, and loving sister Bobbie Wheeler, resident of Cookeville. In addition to her parents and husband, Clara’s passing is preceded by her sisters Pauline Cowan and Carmie Jo Hastings, as well as her brothers JT, James, and Hubert Ragland. Gary Cowan, Brian Howard, Nolan Goolsby, Hugh David Goff, Shane Wheeler and John Hudson will serve as pallbearers.
