Memorial services for CJ Thomas, age 88, will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, November 14, at Dyer Funeral Home with Benton Flatt officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Thomas died Monday November 11, 2019 at NHC of Cookeville. He was born August 10, 1931 in Baxter, TN to the late Chester Johnson and Hattie Allison Thomas. Mr. Thomas was a member of Nash Grove Baptist Church. He retired and worked as an automotive mechanic. He enjoyed playing the guitar and repairing small engines. He especially enjoyed spending time with his loving family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 12 siblings. He is survived by sons, Dwight (Brenda) Thomas of Cookeville and Joey (Jamie) Thomas of Nashville; daughters, Janice (Tommy) Long of Baxter, Jeanette (Carroll) Irby of Smithville, Maxine Trapp of Smithville, and Marsha (Gary) Stockton of Baxter; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and a sister, Marie Palmer of Richmond, KY.
