Chris Maggart

Graveside services and interment for Mrs. Christine (Chris) Maggart, age 84, of Cookeville, will be held Friday October 26 at 1 p.m. Crest Lawn Cemetery with Rev. Christian Smith and Dr. Charles McCaskey officiating. Mrs. Maggart died Wednesday morning October 24, 2018 at NHC of Cookeville. She was born Wednesday March 28, 1934 in Putnam County, TN to the late James and Myrtle Williams Russell. Mrs. Maggart attended Mattie Smith Memorial Presbyterian Church in Silver Point. She and her family founded and operated Maggart Tire Company in Cookeville. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and great-grandmother who adored her family. She was a wonderful cook and took great pride in keeping an immaculate home and lawn. Before her health started to decline she walked 4 miles dailey. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James and Evon Maggart; two grandchildren, Kimberly Maggart, and James Robert (Amanda) Maggart; her great-grandson, Eric James Maggart all of Cookeville; two sisters, Jimmie Nell Hearn of Cookeville, and Denelda (Kenneth) Wilkerson of Buffalo Valley; sister-in-law, Louise (Robert) Burton Buck of McMinnville and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bob) Maggart; infant daughter, Tammy Maggart; and sister, Ada Christian. Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and employees at Maggart Tire Company. Mrs. Maggart's family wishes to express their heartfelt sincere appreciation to family, church family and many friends for their prayers. Her family wishes to thank Dr. Kenny Lynn, nurses, and staff at NHC of Cookeville the Doctors, nurses, and staff in the Critical Care Unit at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville for their compassionate care.
