Funeral services for Mr. Charles R. Miller, Jr. age 91 of Cookeville, will be held Wednesday, March 20th at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church Cookeville. Reverend Scott McKinney will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow in West Cemetery in the Burgess Falls community. His family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home and again Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. until service time at the church. Mr. Miller passed away Sunday, March 17, 2019 at his residence. He was born November 24, 1927 in Ocala, FL to the late Charles R. Miller, Sr. and Martha Ruth Dillard Miller. His family moved to Robertson County and Charlie attended Coopertown School. He enlisted in the National Guard serving as a captain. He moved to Cookeville in 1955 to take a position with Citizens Bank and upon his retirement was Chairman and CEO of the bank. A communitarian, Charlie's professional and community associations included membership in Rotary Club of Cookeville as a Paul Harris Fellow, a Shriner and Past Chairman of the Putnam County Chamber of Commerce. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Mary ‘Earleen' McKenzie Miller; sons, Charles M. Miller and Richard T. Miller; grandson, Jeff Miller; brothers, Hugh Joe Miller and Robert D. Miller; and by son-in-law, Steve Billingsley. He is survived by daughter, Lynda A. Miller of Cookeville; son, Robert L. ‘Bob' Miller & wife Judy of Cookeville; grandchildren, Matt (Crissie) Miller, Rachel (Brad) Spears, Rob (Kelsy) Miller, Amanda (Steven) Childers and Jessica Miller; great grandchildren, Nora, Grant, Wynn, Ace and Liam; brother, Johnny Miller and wife Sara of Clarksville; and daughter-in-law, Lynne Miller. Matt Miller, Rob Miller, Buddy King, Jeff Crosier, Armand Bussell and Bob Boles will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be John Miller, Philip Miller, Donnie Miller, Brad Spears, Ron Brown, Jackie Borden, Bob Hill, Wylie Smith, Dr. Matt Warden, Jack Weathford, Chip Hickerson, Martin Medley, Steve Childers and Mike Shirley. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Cookeville, Tennessee Baptist Children's Home and/or to Shriner's Hospitals for Children.
