Funeral Services for Mr. Charles Judd, age 91, of Cookeville will be held at 1:00pm, Tuesday, March 5, 2024 from the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Bro. Gary Farris and Bro. Chris Blair will officiate. Interment will follow at Stone Seminary Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Veterans Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11:00am until the service time at the funeral home.
Charles Judd, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2024, at the age of 91 in Cookeville, TN. Born on December 27, 1932, in Putnam County, TN, Charles was a man of integrity, warmth, and unwavering kindness.
Mr. Judd was born December 27, 1932 in Putnam County to the late John William and Arla Huddleston Judd.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 70 years, Mildred Walker Judd, whom he married in 1954. Together, they built a life filled with love and dedication. Charles was a devoted father to his son, Roger (Regina) Judd of Cookeville, and daughter, Theresa (Ralph) Stone of Johnson City. He was a proud grandfather to Trevor Judd, Melissa Judd, and Gabriela Stone, and a doting great-grandfather to Harper, Ezrah, Shea, Jameson, Zander, and Addie.
Charles was the steadfast brother to Dale (Dean) Judd and Dave (Maureen) Judd, both of Cookeville, and Jean Whiteaker, also of Cookeville. His life was enriched by the close bonds he shared with his siblings.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Melissa Charlene Judd; his brother, John William Judd, Jr.; and his sisters, Carolyn Holloway, Ann Smith, and Pat Maxwell.
Charles was a proud alumnus of Salem School, where he received his education before embarking on a life of service and hard work. He was a respected cattle farmer and retired from Fleetguard Filtration, where his dedication and work ethic were well-known. His commitment to his country was evident in his service with the U.S. Army B-Company, 3rd Signal Battalion/3rd Infantry Division.
A man of faith, Charles was a long-time member of Salem Methodist Church and later attended Stone Seminary FWB in Cookeville. His spiritual life was a cornerstone of his existence, guiding him in his daily actions and relationships with others.
Those who knew Charles would describe him as loving, friendly, and selfless. He approached life with a gentle demeanor and a smile that could light up a room. His presence was a source of comfort and joy to his family and friends.
Charles's life was a testament to the values he held dear: love, family, and service. He will be remembered for his generous spirit, his willingness to help others, and his unwavering support for his loved ones.
As we bid farewell to Charles Judd, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of moments that will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know him. His legacy will continue to live on through the lives of his family and the countless memories they hold dear.
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Charles Judd will be deeply missed, but his warmth, kindness, and gentle spirit will be forever etched in the hearts of those he touched.
