BAXTER - Funeral services for Charles Lloyd Herren, 76 of Cookeville, will be Friday, March 3 at 1 PM from Herrens Chapel Church of Christ, 11930 Old Baxter Road, Silver Point, TN. Interment will follow in the G.V. Herren Family Cemetery in Silver Point. Mr. Herren passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at his home. He was born December 1, 1940 in Putnam County to the late General Vester "G.V." and Mary Thomas Herren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sisters Lois Phillips, Lucy Jones, Eunice Jones, Sue Rhea Nord, Mary Lou Herren, Dorothy Martin and Belle Youngblood, brothers Howard, Jere and Zina Herren. He was a 1959 graduate of Cookeville Central High School. He was a member of Herrens Chapel Church of Christ, where he had served as a Deacon. He loved reading his Bible, working crossword puzzles and playing card games. He was a retired bookkeeper. Survivors include wife of 48 years (Married February 7, 1969) Bonnie Elrod Herren of Cookeville, daughters Mary Ann (Doug) Stallings of Fort Mill, South Carolina, Marcia Lee Herren Lorance of Cookeville, Sons G. V. (Cathy) Herren of Cincinnati, Ohio and Charles Alan "Chuck" Herren of Cookeville, grandchildren: Dylan Herren, Charlie Herren, Sawyer Lorance and Bryce Herren, a host of nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers will be Jon Loftis, Philip Smith, Lionel Smith, Eric Nord, Mark Welte, Jack Johnson, Mike Herren, Randall Youngblood, Greg Maxwell and Michael Sleister. Bro. Phil Loftis will officiate. Family will receive friends at Herrens Chapel Church of Christ Thursday from 4 to 8 PM and after 11 AM Friday. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
