Private family memorial service for Mr. Charles Edward Hargett, 82, of the Muddy Pond community in Overton County will be held at a later date. Mr. Hargett died Monday evening, April 23, 2012 in Standing Stone Health Care Center in Monterey. He was born April 24, 1930 to the late Joe and Mattie Hovater Hargett in Newburg, AL. He graduated from high school in Russellville, AL in 1949. He then served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict from 1950-1954. He later attended Auburn University School of Architecture from 1955-1958. Mr. Hargett worked for several architectural firms in Nashville before forming his own construction company, Hargett Construction. He built many unique homes in the Nashville and Franklin area before retiring to the Cumberland Plateau in 1995. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Charles Whitfield Hargett and Thomas William Hargett; sister, Ernestine Sizemore. He is survived by his wife Patsy Edmundson Hargett of the Muddy Pond community; sister, Jo Spruell, and a niece, Cynthia Spruell, both of Birmingham, AL.
