Charles Darty

Funeral services with military honors for Mr. Charles F. Darty, age 80 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, May 19th at 3:00 p.m. at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Family will receive friends Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Darty died Wednesday, May 9th, 2018 at NHC Healthcare Cookeville. He was born June 26, 1938 in Cookeville to the late A.V. and Louise Bartlett Darty. He attended Darwin School and faithfully served his country as a member of the United States Navy from 1951 to 1955. Charles worked at Fleetguard in Cookeville, TVA in Hartsville and for Chrysler while living in Detroit. He was a former associate of Hooper & Huddleston Funeral Home. He enjoyed cooking for friends and family and was known for his catfish and coleslaw. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Virgil Darty and John Darty; sister, Ruth Rhodes; and stepson, Samuel Anthony Darty. He leaves behind his wife, Roselyn "Charlene" Myers Darty who currently resides in Detroit, MI; children, Charlotte Bridgeforth, Jessica (James Jr.) Gribble and Charles F. Darty, all of Cookeville; stepchildren, Charletta (Thomas) of Detroit and Grayland Darty of Cookeville; four grandchildren, Kayla Bridgeforth of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Devan Dibrell, Malachi Gribble and Aiden Gribble, all of Cookeville; four great grandchildren; four step grandchildren; sisters, Mildred (Leon) Hall and Frances Hogan, both of Cookeville; four sisters in law; one brother in law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends including a special friend, William Carter. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Charles' family wishes to express a special thank you to the ladies at NHC Healthcare who gave great care.
