DYER CHAPEL-Charles Edward Blair, a beloved member of the Cookeville community and dedicated Housing Specialist for the Elderly at the Upper Cumberland Development District, passed away peacefully at his home in Cookeville, Tennessee, on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at the age of 83. He was born on March 1, 1941, in Jamestown, Tennessee, and enjoyed a full life marked by service to others, love for his family, and community involvement.
A proud veteran, Charles served in the Army during the Vietnam Era, embodying the values of duty and commitment. His professional career was a testament to his passion for helping the elderly, making significant contributions that positively impacted many lives in the Upper Cumberland area.
Charles was a devoted member of the Samaria Church of Christ, where his faith played a central role in his life. He also took great pleasure in his involvement with the Cookeville Coin Club, sharing his interests and passions with fellow enthusiasts.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Russell Blair of Cookeville; son, Chad Blair of Bloomington Springs; two daughters, Cynthia Spivey of Gallatin and Wendy Askins of Cookeville. He cherished time spent with his brothers, Dale Blair of Murfreesboro, Ronnie Blair of Nashville, and Loyd Blair of Manchester, as well as his sister, Phyllis Johnson of Mississippi. His legacy will continue through his grandchildren, Nikki Dyer, Anna Dunn, and TJ Mabry, along with his great-grandchildren, Jettie Mabry and Kyle Dyer, and great-great-grandchildren, EJ Dyer, Magnolia Dyer, and Axel Dyer.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Dorothy Frogg Blair, as well as his sister, Helen Blair, and brothers, Reed Blair and David Blair.
As we remember and celebrate the impactful life of Charles Edward Blair, he will be honored during a visitation at Dyer Chapel Hooper-Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home, 798 S. Willow Ave, Cookeville, Tennessee, on Saturday, March 1, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a memorial service with military honors at 2:00 PM. Bro. David Eldridge will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to St Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
