Funeral Services for Charles Aaron Gilliam, age 85, of Cookeville, will be Monday, November 19, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Cookeville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, November 18, 2012 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Mr. Gilliam passed away Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Master’s Health Care Center in Algood. He was born April 29, 1927 in Akron, OH to the late Hartford Gilliam and Della Wilhite Gilliam. Charles was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from McCord Industries. He loved fishing and his favorite other pastime was eating breakfast at Cracker Barrel. Mr. Gilliam attended the Woodcliff Baptist Church in Monterey. Charles is survived by four children; Steven Gilliam of Michigan, Robert Gilliam (Karen) also of Michigan, Nyoka Foister (James) of Monterey and Carla Gilliam of Cookeville. He is also survived by three sisters; Geneva Farris of Cookeville, Naomi Nabors of Dayton OH and Louellen McNeeley of Algood, as well as three grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by one brother, Jess Gilliam and two grandchildren; Jayson and Jacob Lowhorn. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Bro. Gary Farris will conduct the services.
