COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Cathy Loftis, a dedicated professional and beloved family member, passed away on November 4, 2024, at the age of 65 at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center (CRMC). Born on September 10, 1959, in Cookeville Tennessee, Cathy was a gleaming light in the lives of all who knew her, for her infectious smile and laughter that brightened even the darkest days.
Cathy was a proud graduate of Cookeville High School, where she completed her education as part of the class of 1977. Over the course of her career, she made significant contributions to her community, working at CRMC for over 20 years and spending an additional 10 years at the Hwy 111 Truck Stop. Her work ethic and dedication were evident throughout her impressive career, leaving a lasting impact on her colleagues and those she served.
Beyond her accomplishments in her professional life, Cathy had a variety of interests that brought her joy. She was passionate about music and often enjoyed attending concerts. Additionally, she had a particular fascination with true crime documentaries, which she loved discussing with friends and family.
Cathy is survived by her daughter, Latisha Loftis, who carries on her legacy. She was also a cherished grandmother to Bella Figueroa, Isaiah Figueroa, and Isaac (Yasmine) Loftis, and a great-grandmother to Little Isaac Loftis and Iliana Loftis, who will remember her warmth and love. Additional family includes her special cousins Bruce Grogan, Jeanetta (David) Johnson, and Steve Grogan; her aunt Joy Grogan and her special nephew Brandon Loftis, along with her best friend Debbie Mathis Little, all of whom were fortunate to have shared precious moments with her. The family would also like to thank her caregiver Brioney Baltierra. Cathy leaves behind her beloved cat named Baby that she loved dearly.
Cathy was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Joe and Beatrice (Grogan) Elmore and her grandparents Nancy and Haskell Grogan, whose memory she cherished throughout her life.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Her family and friends will miss her dearly, but her spirit will undoubtedly live on in the memories she created and the countless lives she touched with her kindness and laughter. Cathy Loftis will forever be remembered as a brilliant star in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know her.
