Funeral services for Willie Catherin Woodard, 86, of Cookeville, will be held Wednesday, December 17th at 11 a.m. at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Rev. Scott Griner and Rev. Keith Tosh will officiate. Burial will follow in Cookeville City Cemetery. Mrs. Woodard's family will receive friends Tuesday from 5pm until 8pm and again Wednesday from 10am until service time at the funeral home. She died Sunday, December 14, 2014, in Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Woodard was born December 30, 1927 in Cookeville to the late George Beecher and Laura Davis Walker. A devoted mother and homemaker, Catherin also worked as an elevator operator of the Sheraton Cadillac Hotel in Detroit, MI. Her job there was highlighted meeting and talking to John F. Kennedy as he rode on her elevator. Since moving back to Cookeville in 1981, she has been an active member of Bangham Heights Baptist Church. She was blessed by the many friends she had from the church. She enjoyed knitting, working outdoors and loved to travel, especially with her coworker and best friend, Mable Neisler In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold ‘Woody' Woodard; brothers, Howard ‘Buzz' Walker, Ernest Walker, Douglas Walker; and by sisters, Lily Wanda Fuqua, Mary Hoffman and Emogene Matheney. Mrs. Woodard is survived by her sons, Wayne (Jeannie) Flatt of Mobile, AL and Jim (Debbie) Flatt of Canton, GA; grandchildren, Stephanie (Darrell) Crotty of Southport, NC, Christopher (Ashley) Kenny of Douglasville, GA, Tracie (Jack) Jackson of Kennesaw, GA, and Joshua (Silke) Kenny of Ball Ground, GA; 11 great grandchildren; and by a sister, Patsy (John) Carmack of Lebanon. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made to Bangham Heights Baptist Church, 5961 Hilham Rd., Cookeville, TN 38501.
