Carrie Roberts

d. January 19, 2015

Funeral services for Carrie Louveta Roberts, age 79, of Cookeville, will be held at 2 pm Friday, January 23, at McClellan Avenue Church of Christ. Bro. Marty Gribble will officiate. Interment will follow at Cookeville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 – 7 pm at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home and again Friday from 1 pm until service time at the church. Carrie peacefully departed this life on January 19, 2015 after an extended illness. She was born on December 6, 1935 in Livingston, TN. Their family later moved to Cookeville. She was the youngest of ten children born to John Barlow and Mary Elizabeth Roberts. Her older siblings never could agree upon the exact year of her birth. This seemed to be a never ending friendly family feud when her brothers came to town. She was finally able to obtain a copy of her birth certificate late in life which had a recorded birth date of November 25, 1935 of which none of her siblings agreed with. So as a result, she got to celebrate her birthday twice a year, on November 25th and again on December 6th. Carrie was a faithful member of McClellan Avenue Church of Christ in Cookeville. She was formerly employed at Red Kap and Wilson Sporting Goods for a number of years and then retired from Oster Corporation with over eleven years of service. Carrie was most proud of her six children and they in return honored and cherished her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard Roberts and Dewitt Roberts; two sisters, Callie Bea Buck and Opal Howard; and grand-daughter, Taressa Page. She is survived by a host of loving family and friends including her four daughters, Linda Denise Wells (Jake) of Dayton, OH, Sylvia Jewel Dean Harris (Jeff) of Smyrna, TN, Joanna Strode of Cookeville, and Christie Annette Dunn (Ricky) of Murfreesboro, TN; two sons, James Haskell Click Jr. of Inglewood, CA, and Scottie Dewitt Roberts (Vicki) of Cookeville; ten grandchildren, Hugh Phillip Page, Jr., Jacob Page, Courtney Harris, Chelsea Harris, Hanifea Click, Heather Roberts, Christopher Strode, LaShauna Strode, Lindsey Dunn, and Matthew Dunn; eleven great grandchildren, Hadari, Christian, Caitlyn, Destiny, Quinton, Solomon, Dyison, Jailen, Julien, Aysiah, and Marley; three sisters, Ruby Ann Roberts of Cookeville, Hilma Jean Strode of McMinnville, TN, and Mary Phillips Wester (Charlie King) of Cookeville; a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, other beloved friends and church family. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made to McClellan Avenue Church of Christ, 141 McClellan Court, Cookeville, TN 38501.
