Funeral services for Carol Ann Wood, age 75 of Cookeville, will be held Wednesday, April 15th at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church Cookeville. Dr. Larry Gilmore and Rev. Mike Head will officiate. Entombment will follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery. Mrs. Wood's family will receive friends Tuesday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home and again Wednesday from 10 am until service time at the church. Carol, affectionately known by family and friends as Uma, died Sunday, April 12th at NHC of Cookeville, surrounded by her adoring family. She was born on November 17, 1939 in Woodbury, TN to the late Clayton and Georgie White Tennpenny Francis. She was a graduate of Cannon County High School. Leaving Woodbury to live in Murfreesboro for 10 years, she and her husband moved to Cookeville in 1976. Together they started the family business, Bradmark Industrial Coatings. Described as a classy lady, she will be remembered as a strong and sharp business woman. Her direct, strong-willed, straight-forward approach coupled with her loving, caring and nurturing nature led her to excel in business and in life. Carol leaves behind many friends and admirers and she will be dearly missed. She was devoted to her family and held a special regard for her grandkids. She enjoyed playing golf, days at the lake, and cooking for her friends and family. She has been an active member of First Baptist Church Cookeville for 25 years and especially loved her church choir. Her family includes her husband of 56 years, Glenn Wood (whom she married August 3, 1958 in Woodbury); son, Brad Wood and wife Donna; grandchildren, BJ, Tucker and Caroline Wood, all of Cookeville; brother, Randall Francis and wife Brenda of Nashville and Dean Ray of Rock Island; nieces and nephews, Jan Kendall, Keith Ray, Tammy O'NealDuffey, Blake O'Neal, Fran Bowen, Judy Foster, Pat Sizzom and Bonnie Patterson; and by a host of cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Miriam Faye O'Neal and Nancy Oleta Armstrong. Jack Arnett, Tim Collins, Lonnie Donaldson, Steve Hertzfeldt, Frank Tittle and Doug Winford will serve as pallbearers. Ladies from Carol's golf group will serve as honorary pallbearers Memorial contributions may be made to the Operation Christmas Child, c/o First Baptist Church Cookeville, 18 South Walnut Ave, Cookeville, TN 38501.
