Funeral services for Mrs. Carol Gwendolyn McDaniel, age 81 of Cookeville, will be held Thursday, December 1, 2022 at 1:00 pm in the Dyer Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Judd Cemetery. Bro. Johnny Fox will officiate. Her family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5pm until 8pm and again Thursday 11:00am until service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. McDaniel died Tuesday November 29, 2022 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born Sunday, September 3, 1941 in Cookeville to the late Thomas Wesley and Lydia Bethel Scarlett Montgomery. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Anabel Montgomery, Judy Montgomery and James Montgomery

Carol was a great person, family oriented, a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a longtime member of Whitson Chapel Church of Christ where she served as the church treasurer for many years. She was also the caretaker for Judd Cemetery for many years. She really enjoyed playing volleyball and participated in the Senior Olympics. She also volunteered at the Putnam County Fair and submitted cooking entries every year, with a great many blue ribbons to show for it. She also enjoyed sewing, yard-sales and shopping GoodWills. She loved to cook and for many years prepared a meal for her whole family on Monday nights. Carol especially enjoyed being “Granny Mama” to the 5 grand kids and 11 GREAT grand kids.

Mrs. McDaniel is survived by her husband of 64 years, JC McDaniel; a brother Tommy Montgomery II; daughter, Cindy Dyer and husband Ron; son, Chris McDaniel and his fiance, Mary Bowen; grandchildren, Kaye Dyer, Christy Dyer-Gultom (Edward), Misty (Austin) Albright and Ashley (Wes) Richards; Ryan (Allison) McDaniel, great grandchildren; Caelan Broadway and Alivia Parrish, Will, Molly, Maggie and Weston Albright, Bronson and Colton McDaniel, Elliot and Oliver Gultom, and Ty Richards; and life long friend Pat Grimes; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Wes Richards, Austin Albright, Ryan McDaniel, Larry McDaniel, Caelan Broadway and Donnie Jackson will serve as pallbearers.
