Carl Johnson

Funeral service for Carl Cordell Johnson, age 90, of Baxter, will be 1 p.m. Monday July 9 at Dyer Funeral. Interment will follow at Nash Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 11 a.m. until time of services. Mr. Johnson passed away Saturday evening July 6, 2018 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born June 17, 1928 in Dekalb County, TN to the late Oscar Staley and Sally Daisy Cole Johnson. Mr. Johnson was retired from the TN Dept of Transportation. He was a gentleman farmer and enjoyed woodworking and making furniture. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lila Nash Johnson, who he married December 27, 1952 in Cookeville; son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Susie Johnson of Baxter; daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Ted Jones of Gainesboro; four sisters, Vivian (Larry) Boswell of Cookeville, Marcella (Gene) Bilbrey of Cookeville, Patricia Green of Nashville, and Geneva Thompson of Algood; four grandchildren, Jason (Britney) Johnson, Michael (Jessica) Cade, Suzanna (Adam) Nash, and Misty (Craig) Julian; eight great-grandchildren, Eli Johnson, Carl Ray Julian, Lila Rose Cade and Sawyer Cade, Raelynn, Carly, Addison, and Aiden Nash. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Mattie Bunch Johnson, Mildred Evelyn Trump, and Iva Winifred Hayes; three brothers, Hersell Staley Johnson, Oscar Oren Johnson, and William Reed Johnson; Pallbearers will be family and friends.
