Byrnie Gilmore

Monterey-Funeral services for Mrs. Byrnie Ruth Gilmore, age 93, of Monterey, will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday November 6 at the Monterey United Methodist Church. Pastor Denna Hornby will officiate. Interment will follow in the Whittaker Cemetery. Her family will receive friends Wednesday from 1 p.m. until service time at the church. Mrs. Gilmore passed away Monday November 4, 2019 at her home. She was born July 23, 1926 in Monterey, TN to the late James Talmadge Reed Sr.and Nancy Catherine Ford Reed. Mrs. Gilmore was a member of the Monterey United Methodist Church where she was a faithful member of the choir. She formerly worked at the Monterey Hospital, Bank of Putnam County, and later retired from the Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency. She is survived by her daughter, Saundra Gilmore; three grandchildren, Angela and husband Michael Mountain, Richard Buttram, and Krista and husband DeWayne VanWinkle; siblings, Wanda Thurman Balsley, Dr. Larry Reed, and Berta Williams; six great-grandchildren, Stephen and wife Deborah McKethan, Morgan and husband Jonathan Boren, Christopher Mountain, Katlyn Mountain, Blake and wife Lindsey VanWinkle, and Alexa and husband Drew Swallows; four great-great-grandchildren, Brayden McKethan, Aiden Boren, Hadley and Asher VanWinkle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Percy Gilmore; second husband, Sam Hicks; siblings, Bonnie Reed, Clara May Reed, Gerald Burton Reed, Harvey Hercules Reed, James Talmadge Reed Jr., and Elizabeth Thursa Reed.
