Funeral services for Mr. Burch L. McCormick, age 89 of Cookeville, will be held Friday September 30th at 11 a.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Bro. Jeremiah Tatum will officiate. Interment will follow in Cookeville City Cemetery. His family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burch died Wednesday morning September 28, 2016 at NHC Healthcare of Sparta. He was born January 14, 1927 in Putnam County, TN to the late Herman and Mary Ida Rockwell McCormick. Burch worked for the forestry service until his retirement in the early 1980's. He was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed checking his cattle up until recent months. He was a hard worker, always keeping himself busy. He was a devoted husband who loved his family. Burch was a longtime, active member of Willow Avenue Church of Christ, serving the church as a deacon. He was a founding and longtime member of the Board of Directors of Happy Haven Children's Home. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife of over 60 years, Patty Lou Scott McCormick; son, Bruce McCormick; sisters, Beulah Boatman, Nell Buckner; and by a brother, Willard McCormick. He is survived by grandson, Scott McCormick and wife Logan, great granddaughters Darby and Rowen McCormick; and by daughter in law, Elaine McCormick Pallbearers will be fellow church members at Willow Avenue Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Happy Haven Children's Home, 2311 Wakefield Drive, Cookeville, TN 38501 and/or to the Willow Meals Program at Willow Ave. Church of Christ, 1150 S.
