Buddy Slagle

Funeral services for Mr. Buddy Slagle, age 72 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday January 9 at 1 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Algood City Cemetery. Brother Jim Blankenship will officiate. Buddy passed away Thursday morning January 7, 2016 at his home after an extended illness. He was born July 14, 1943 in Putnam County, Tennessee to the late Herman Lee and Edith Pearl Elmore Slagle. He was of the Baptist Faith; a 1961 Graduate of Cookeville High School; and a retired associate of Kroger in Cookeville with 41 years of service. Buddy was an avid Chevy Car Buff especially '56 thru '72 models. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Tim Whiteaker. Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Annita Jaquess Slagle (whom he married May 16, 1976 in Cookeville); sister, Betty Jo Whiteaker and niece, Lori Whiteaker all of Cookeville. Buddy's family extends "A SPECIAL THANK-YOU" To Highland Rim Home Care and Avalon Hospice. Honorary Pallbearers will be associates at Kroger of Cookeville. Active Pallbearers will be Ken Oakley, Earl Jaquess, Johnny Jackson, Roger Phillips, Willie Shirley, and Pat Moran. Buddy's family will receive friends Friday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
