A graveside service will be held for Mr. Charles Duane "Buddy" Gentry, age 82 of Maryville and formerly of Chattanooga and Cookeville, will be held on Sunday January 4, 2015 at 3pm at Algood City Cemetery. Dr. Charles McCaskey will officiate. His family will receive friends Sunday from 1pm until 2:30pm at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Mr. Gentry passed away at on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Asbury Place Nursing Home in Maryville. Born on August 23, 1932, he was the son of the late Charles L. Gentry and Pearl Phy Gentry. He attended the public schools of Cookeville and graduated from Tennessee Tech University. Mr. Gentry was a veteran of the Korean War, serving his country as a member of the United States Army. He was a retired teacher of the Chattanooga Public Schools and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Chattanooga. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers: Bobby R. Gentry, Galen G. Gentry, and Garry D. Gentry. He is survived by brother: Jimmy (Nina) Gentry of Indianapolis, IN; sister: Faye Huddleston of Maryville, TN; four nieces: Gayle Loftis (Ted), Jan Holloway (Don) both of Cookeville, Reponda Summers (Steve) of Indianapolis, Heather Hesson (Eric) of Maryville; and one great niece: Erica Hesson.
