Funeral services for Mr. Bruce McCormick, age 63 of Cookeville, will be held Wednesday July 6 at 11 a.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Jeremiah Tatum and Dewight Stamps will officiate. Interment will follow in Dry Valley Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Bruce died suddenly Saturday morning July 2, 2016 at his home. He was born January 22, 1953 in Cookeville to Burch Lloyd McCormick of Cookeville and the late Patty Lou "Pat" Scott McCormick. Bruce was a life-long active member of Willow Avenue Church of Christ where he previously taught the 5th and 6th grade Sunday School Class. He was a former member of the Board of Directors of Happy Haven Children's Home. Bruce was a 1971 graduate of Putnam County Senior High School. He was a founding Partner of Cookeville Limestone LLC and one of the original founders of Cookeville Pistons Car Club. Bruce was a family man who took special care of his mom during her illness and death, and continued to give loving support to his dad. He cared for the family farm and cattle, and always had enough help with the hay, thanks to son, Scott. He was a devoted husband and father and was a wonderful "Pops" to granddaughters, Rowen and Darby. He also leaves behind many long term friendships. In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife of 42 years, Elaine Allison McCormick (married August 3, 1973 in Cookeville, TN); son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Logan McCormick; grandchildren, Rowen Hale McCormick and Darby Quinn McCormick all of Cookeville; sister-in-law Lilly (Kermit) Vickers of Cookeville and brother-in-law Lonnie (Judi) Rice of Clayton, CA. Pallbearers will be Rick Bowman, Art Montgomery, Greg Scott, Carl Brown, Charlie Dalton, Tom Dyer, Russell Dyer, and Barry Allison. Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements (931) 526-6111.
