Brinda Shanks

Funeral services for Mrs. Brinda Fay Shanks, age 68 of Baxter, will be held Tuesday, June 5th at 3:00 p.m. at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Smellage Cemetery. Bro. Jeremiah Tatum will officiate. Mrs. Shank's family will receive friends Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Shanks died Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Select Specialty Hospital in Nashville. She was born November 30, 1949 in Putnam County, TN to the late Shirley and Hertha Reagan Stewart. She was a 1967 graduate of Cookeville High School. Brinda worked at the Library in Baxter as a manager. She later worked as a sales associate at Belk and JC Pennys. Fun and vivacious, Brinda was always concerned with the happiness of others. Her interests included playing games on the internet and watching her favorite show ‘The Golden Girls'. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, George Shanks of Baxter; son, James Douglas Haney; sister, Nelda Stewart of Cookeville; brother, Douglas (Maxine) Stewart of Cookeville; and by a niece, Shirley (Tim) Holloway.
