Brenda Lyles

Funeral services for Mrs. Brenda Carolyn Lyles, 68, of Cookeville, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 3 at the Cookeville of Chapel Hooper-Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home with Bro. David Carr and Bro. Randy Heady officiating. Interment will follow at Cookeville City Cemetery. Brenda's family will receive friends Thursday from 5 – 8 p.m. and Friday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Brenda died suddenly Tuesday afternoon, June 30, 2015 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Brenda was born September 23, 1946 in White County to the late Claudie Edward and Gladys Bray Sherrell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Allen Lyles; and son-in-law, Randy Wilder. Brenda has been a member and church pianist of New Hope Baptist Church in Gainesboro for over 20 years. She seldom met a stranger and offered love and friendship to all she met. She was steadfast in her faith always trusting God to work for good regardless of the circumstances. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, John Thomas (Tom) Lyles (whom she married December 20, 1963 in White County, TN); son and daughter-in-law, Daryl and Kim Lyles; daughter, Lisa Lyles Wilder all of Cookeville; brother and sister-in-law, Glynn and Dian Sherrell of White County, TN; mother-in-law, Maggie Lyles of Cookeville; four grandchildren, Alexis Lyles, Bethany Rodgers (husband, Nick), Peyton Keen (husband, Tyler), Reagan Wilder (fiancé, Chris Bernstein); three great-grandchildren, Aaron and Andrew Rodgers, and Eli Keen; nieces and nephews, Kent Sherrell (wife, Amy), Karl Sherrell (wife, Kim), Karen McCulley (husband, Jimmy), Kelly Mackie, and Kandy Cantrell (husband, Randal). Pallbearers will be Darryl Lyles, Mike England, Nick Rodgers, Tyler Keen, Chris Bernstein, and Randy Heady Memorial contributions may be made to Mustard Seed Ranch PO Box 3814 Cookeville, TN 38502.
