Boyd Twitty

A Memorial service for Boyd Wester Twitty, age 66 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday July 18th at 1 p.m. at Cookeville First Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Dr. Charles McCaskey officiating. Burial will follow at a later date. Boyd's family will receive friends Friday from 5pm until 8pm and again Saturday from 11am until service time at the church. Boyd passed away suddenly Tuesday, July 14th at his home. He was born June 3, 1949 in Warrenton, NC to the late Frank Boyd and Mary Plummer Wester Twitty. He was a graduate of Atlantic Christian College (now Barton College) in Wilson, NC. Boyd and his family moved to Cookeville in 1987. He has been a Sales Tax Auditor with the State of Tennessee Department of Revenue for over 22 years. He was also an Associate with Kroger in Cookeville where he was well-known by all his customers and well-respected by coworkers. Boyd will be fondly remembered for his kind-hearted, gentle and family-oriented nature. He loved animals and especially enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren. He has been a member of Cookeville First Cumberland Presbyterian Church since moving to Cookeville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ellen Lynch. Boyd is survived by his wife of 43 years, Lynn Flottman Twitty (whom he married December 23, 1971 in Macon, NC); sons, Nathaniel (Robin) Twitty and Matthew (Sondra) Twitty, all of Cookeville; daughter, Brenon Twitty of Sparta; grandchildren, Sara Twitty, Hannah Twitty, Ryan Twitty and a granddaughter to be; sister, Diane (Larry) Lynch of Warrenton, NC; and by several nieces and nephews.
