Bobbi Nabors

January 5, 1953 — June 10, 2023

Inice Faye "Bobbi" Nabors, fondly known as Bobbi, passed away peacefully from her residence in Cookeville into eternal life on Saturday June 10, 2023 with her husband and sons present. Born in Huntington, West Virginia on January 5, 1953, Bobbi led a life filled with love, determination, and cherished memories.

Bobbi is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, James, whom she married on June 23, 1972. Together, they raised four wonderful sons: Chris (Stephanie) of Nashville, Wes (Katie) of Smyrna, Matt of Baxter, and Andy (Lori) of Cookeville. Bobbi's legacy also includes six adoring grandchildren: Alexander, Slevin, Sully, Stellar James, Caraline, and Nora. She is also survived by two sisters, Jackie (Bill) Newman of Bulls Gap, TN and Patty (Harley) Atkins of Amherstdale, WV; and two brothers, George (Pam) Nelson and Chuck (Tammy) Nelson, all of Man, WV. Bobbi was preceded in death by her mother, Inice Fry Nelson; father, George Nelson, a retired coal miner; step-mother, Norma Jean Nelson, who was the only mother she knew; and three sisters, Jewel Browning, Sharon Schindler, and Lillian Daniels.

Throughout her professional life, Bobbi was a dedicated and hardworking individual who excelled in her career. She retired as an administrative assistant from the Tennessee Vocational Rehabilitation, having formerly worked at Pacesetters in Cookeville and Tennessee Tech University.

Bobbi's interests were diverse and engaging. Above all else, she loved her grandchildren and took great joy in spending time with them. Those who knew her would describe her as strong-willed and determined, with an unwavering sense of honesty. Her candid nature ensured that people always knew where they stood with her, and her steadfast integrity earned her the respect of those around her.

In addition to her professional and family life, Bobbi was well-known for her many years as a talented softball umpire. Her keen eye and fair judgment made her a respected figure on the field, and her love for the game was evident to all who played under her officiating.

Bobbi's funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday June 14 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Pastor Chris Sparkman will officiate. Interment will follow at Gentry Cemetery. Her family will welcome friends Tuesday from 4 - 8 p.m. and again Wednesday from 9 a.m. until service time.
