Funeral services for Mr. Bobby Alvin York, age 71 of Rickman, will be held Thursday, March 24th at 1 p.m. at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Dr. Jimmy Arms and Pastor Bob Sotis will officiate. Burial will follow in the Ruth Chapel Community Cemetery in Overton Co. Mr. York's family will receive friends Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and again Thursday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Bob passed away suddenly Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born April 16, 1944 in the Shady Rest community of Warren Co. TN to the late Jesse Lee and Ethel Perry York. He graduated at the top of his class and was voted most likely to succeed from the Irving College school in Warren Co. in 1962. He moved to Indiana for a short time before moving back to McMinnville to work as an apprentice with the Oster Corporation. Bob was the founder, owner and president of Cookeville Tool & Manufacturing for over 20 years and has been president and owner of Yorco/G & G Stamping for the past 20 years. He was a former member of Stevens Street Baptist Church and has attended Cookeville Life Church. Bob was a great example to his family and to the many friends he made throughout his life. He was an extremely positive person who always saw the good in people and in any situation. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, boating and fishing, cookouts with family and friends and anything to do with the outdoors. He was a great lover of animals and ran an animal rescue with his wife Donna. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant twin sister, Fern York. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Donna Moore York, and their children, Jesse York, Natalie York and Hayley Wisehart and companion Randy Young and her children, Matasia Goodwin and Talan Ledbetter; his first wife Linda York and son, Tony York and companion Kelly Johnson; daughter, Teri York Fitzgerald and husband Colin of Santa Cruz, CA; grandchildren, Savannah York and Declan Fitzgerald; great grandchildren, Tyson King and Aaliyah Marie King; and by his beloved dog, Hogan. Memorial contributions may be to Cookeville/Putnam County Animal Shelter, 2650 Gainesboro Grade, Cookeville, TN 38501. Joe Scott, Scottie Walker, Cary Lemons, Jeff Lemons, Ken Jones and Randy Young will serve as pallbearers. Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements (931)526-6111.
