Funeral services for James Robert (Bob) Hill, age 87 of Cookeville, were held at 1 p.m. Friday June 4 at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Dr. Charles McCaskey and Rev. Christian Smith officiated. Interment followed at Hill Cemetery. The family received friends Thursday from 5 - 8 p.m. at Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home and again Friday from 11 a.m. until service time at the church. Bob passed away Tuesday evening June 1, 2021 at his home. He was born September 20, 1933 in Putnam County to the late Holmes and Edna Dowell Hill. Bob opened Bob's Body Shop and Salvage in 1958. He operated the family business with honesty and focused customer service for over 63 years. His legacy of hard work, family dedication, and kindness will be remembered throughout the community. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Jerry Hunter Hill; son, Richard Hill; sisters, Helen (Tuby) Philips, Tommye Morton, and Judy Blevins, and brothers, John (Pill) Hill and Kenny Hill. He is survived by daughter, Rhonda (Bill) Grogan; grandchildren, Blake (Niki) Grogan, and Dusty Hill; great grandchildren, Hutson Grogan, and Courtney Maxwell; great-great grandson, Maverick Maxwell all of Cookeville; and special friend for over 25 years, Carol Stover and her family. Pallbearers were friends and family. Honorary pallbearers were employees of Bob's Body Shop, Donnnie Johnson, Casey Price, Puggs Watts, Mark Maxwell, Lewis Coomer, John Bohannon, George Miller, Drew Dickey, Eric Clark, Howard Allison, Robert Sheppard, Billy Harville, Ken Allison, David Sullivan, and great-great grandson, Maverick Maxwell.
