COOKEVILLE-Mr. Robert John "Bo" Shelton, a cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away at the age of 49 on January 23, 2024, in Cookeville, TN. Born on October 8, 1974, in Nashville, TN, Bo's life was a testament to his boundless generosity and his steadfast love for his family and community.
Bo was preceded in death by his father, John Thomas Shelton, Jr., his brother Chris Shelton, and his paternal grandparents, John Thomas Shelton, Sr. and Dorothy Jean Nolan Shelton. He was also preceded by his maternal grandparents, Robert and Rita Wigger. He leaves behind his mother, Mary "Elaine" Shelton Eslinger and her husband, Don Eslinger; his sister, Margie and her husband Chris Archer, along with their children Amelia, Lily, and Nolan; his stepsister, Katie and her husband Matthew Hickman, and children, Tori and Madison; his stepbrother, Matt Eslinger, and his numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He served in the United States Marine Corps and dedicated many hours volunteering at The River Community Church, Habitat for Humanity and Manna's Hana Riding Center. His infectious whistle, his joyous renditions of songs, and his playful air guitar performances were hallmarks of a man who embraced life's simple pleasures and shared them generously with all around him. Bo's generosity of spirit extended far beyond his volunteer work; it was the essence of who he was. He was a people person through and through, always eager to lend a hand and share a smile. In every aspect of his life, Bo sought to embody the values he held most dear: kindness, generosity, and a deep love for his family. His memory will be cherished in the hearts of those he touched. Though Bo has departed from this earthly realm, the love he shared and the light he brought into this world will never fade. He will be deeply missed.
