Blake Currier

Funeral services for Blake Ashton Currier, 25, of Cookeville, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, August 15 at The River Community Church with Greg Canada officiating. Blake's family will receive friends Monday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the church. Casual attire is welcomed. Blake passed away Friday morning, August 12, 2016 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. He was born August 16, 1990 in Greensboro, NC to Lee and Laura Gwyn Currier. Blake graduated from Cookeville High School in 2009. He enjoyed playing and watching sports, fishing, snowboarding, and off road motorcycle riding. He loved spending time with family and friends. Most importantly, Blake was a Christian. He enrolled in Rhema Bible School in Tulsa, OK in 2012. Shortly before beginning classes, he was diagnosed with leukemia. Over the course of his sickness, Blake never lost his faith in the Lord and encouraged others around him. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Erin Currier of Cookeville; maternal grandmother, Jenny Gwyn of Mt. Airy, NC; paternal grandmother, Jeanne Currier of Thomasville, NC; and his dog, Bubba. He was preceded in death by maternal grandfather, Ray Gwyn; and paternal grandfather, Johnny Currier. Jason Organ, Corbin Barwick, Judah Akers, Brandon Weaver, Eric Trabucco, and Kevin Short will serve as pallbearers.
