BILLIE EVELYN ROBERTS BAXTER-Funeral services for Billie Evelyn Roberts, 88 of Ball Ground, Georgia, formerly of Silver Point, will be Sunday, November 4 at 3 PM from the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Smellage Memory Gardens in the Boma Community of Putnam County. Mrs. Roberts passed peacefully Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at The Oaks at Towne Lakes Assisted Living in Woodstock, GA. She was born March 24, 1930 in Silver Point, TN to the late Bethel Robinson Prichard and Martha Elizabeth Carr Prichard. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband MJ "Jay" Roberts on October 7, 1995, sons Benny and Terry Roberts, grandson Billy Roberts, sister Betty Virginia Jernigan, daughter-in-law Amy Roberts. Billie grew up on her parents' farm and often entertained all that knew her with stories of her family, childhood and the holler. She spent many happy years in Silver Point and it was there she met her future husband, MJ "Jay" Roberts. They married in 1948 and began the adventure of raising a family in 1950 with the birth of their first son Benny. Work eventually took them to Michigan where their family grew with addition of four more boys-Terry, Marty, Randall and Paul. While living in Michigan, Billie began studying the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses. Billie was dedicated to the truth and she remained a steadfast member of the faith as she continued to raise her boys and navigate life. After moving back to Tennessee, she eventually landed in Smithville, calling the local congregation home for over eight years. It brought Billie great joy to go out in service; sharing her faith in person, with a hand written note-even over the phone. Billie attended services at Smithville Kingdom Hall until she moved to Georgia in 2016. Even with her move, she enjoyed listening to the Smithville meetings weekly on her headphones, staying in touch with friends and visiting with her fellow Witnesses over the last few years-any time she visited Tennessee. Billie Roberts was a very special woman-loving daughter and sister, mother to five boys, grandmother to twelve, great grandmother to six and dedicated friend to so many others. You could not meet Billie without being captivated by her sweet smile, spunky spirit and gentle heart. Whether she was helping on the farm, at Kingdom Hall, or with her family, Billie always gave selflessly and the impact she made on her family and the community will never be forgotten. Survivors include sons Randall (Carren) Roberts and Paul Roberts all of Ball Ground, GA, Marty (Sara) Roberts of Minnesota, brother Ben Prichard of South Carolina, daughters-in-law Glenda and Beverly Roberts, countless friends and extended family. Family will receive friends Saturday from 5 to 8PM and Sunday from 1 to 3 PM at the funeral home. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements (931)858-2134. You may share your thoughts and memories at www.hhhfunerals.com
