Bill Matheney William (Bill) Cecil Matheney, age 62, passed away Sunday morning July 19, 2020 at his home in Hixson, TN. Bill was born October 3, 1957 in Cookeville, TN to Bettie Sue McBroom Clack of Cookeville, and the late Charles Curtis Matheney. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 40 years, Judy Sherrell Matheney. They were married May 31, 1980 in Cookeville but shortly thereafter, established a home in Chattanooga. He has two sons, Josh (Felicia) Matheney of Fort Worth, TX and David (Taylor) Matheney of Chattanooga; brother, Kenneth (Beth) Matheney and sister, Susan (Tim) Melton all of Cookeville; grandchild, Bailey Matheney. He received his B.S. Degree in Business Administration with a major in accounting in 1979 and his MBA with a concentration in accounting and information systems from Tennessee Technological University in 1982. His career spans more than 40 years in accounting and more than 31 years specializing in servicing the health care industry. In 1996, he establish Matheney Stees and Associates based in Chattanooga. Bill was a member of many professional organizations, including: the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the Tennessee Chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association. He also served on the board at Siskin Hospital for Physical Rehabilitation in Chattanooga. Other interests and activities include cheering on his big orange team (being a Vol for Life), being PawPaw and his passion for faith, serving as a youth Sunday School teacher and leader at Central Baptist Church of Hixson followed by serving as a deacon at Dallas Bay Church in Hixson. Funeral services will be on Wednesday July 22 at 11 a.m. at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Dr. David McNabb will officiate. Interment for family will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery. His family will receive friends Tuesday July 21 from 4 - 7 p.m. and again Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Due to COVID-19 precautions, social distancing measures will be observed. In lieu of flowers and plants, memorial contributions may be made to TTU Bessie Lee Flatt McBroom Memorial Scholarship Endowment, P.O.
