William Floyd Langston, age 50 of Cookeville, passed away suddenly Monday November 8, 2021 at his home. A gathering for friends and family will be Sunday November 14 from 2 - 4 p.m. at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Bill was born November 4, 1971 in Athens, TN to the late Daniel Floyd Langston Jr. and Judith Carolyn Raper Langston. He was the valedictorian of the 1989 class at McMinn County High School, and earned a bachelor's degree from Tennessee Tech University in 2004. He was employed as a field service engineer with Leidos. Bill had passion for music. He was a talented trombonist and bass guitarist. Chicago was his favorite band, and was heavily involved in their fan club. He was a member and former chair of the Cookeville Community Band, and played in a local group called the Big Band Sound. Bill loved science fiction and fantasy and had directed children’s events and registration for Chattacon, a local scifi convention. He was a lifelong gamer and passed on his love of tabletop gaming to his son Harry, as well as sharing gaming wisdom with many new players in the community. He is survived by his wife, Pamela Kilburn Langston; son, Harrison Langston; and brother, Rob (Emily) Langston of Athens, TN.
