Bill Cantrell

Graveside services and interment for Mr. William (Bill) Alf Cantrell, of Clawson, MI, will be at 2 p.m Friday November 23 at Cookeville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery. Bill passed away on Friday, November 16, 2018. He was born November 12, 1936 to Ira Lee Brown Cantrell and Firmon Gist Cantrell in Sparta, Tennessee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Bill married Jean Bennett on December 28, 1953. They moved to Royal Oak, Michigan in 1955. After three years, they moved to Phillips Avenue in Clawson, Michigan, where he lived for 60 years. They enjoyed many years of travel and life together. Bill could fix anything. He worked at Devlieg Machine Company and then at Acme Manufacturing until he was 66 years old. While at Devlieg, he regularly traveled at least 45 weeks each year all across the U.S. and to many foreign countries, including Germany, South Korea, Japan, and China. Through the years, Bill also loved to travel around the U.S., especially Florida, with Jean and his children. Bill is survived by his wife, Jean; his two children, Sherry (Len) and Alan (Sherrie); his two grandsons, Alex and Christopher; his sister Hattie Jo; and several close relatives and friends.
